Eid Fitri and Me

Short talk

I’m having headache now. Due to excessive watching of Naruto, Japan Drama and Korea Drama. My Mid-Sem exam gonnna be on 17 October, just a few days after Eid. Sad, isn’t it? Just like the period of my SPM. Exam after the holiday.

There are about 10 more days before Eid Fitri. Yet, the anticipation is decreasing as years by years passed. Maybe because I’m grown up or other causes or I think it is because I miss Ramadhan so much, can’t wait for the next one.

Today I try to make some ‘review’, in searching the reason why I think the anticipation of Eid Fitri decreasing year by year. In my opinion, there are several crucial element in Eid Fitri. As I can think for now, it is Family, Food and Children. Let us say this is not about I’m celebrating Eid in oversea, but seeing if I was celebrating in Malaysia.

Food
Above all, food is the most important role played in Eid because among all dishes, most of the hardest dishes to make are made during Eid, hand-made. The event of preparing it, all the commotion during the preparation, is priceless. I think that is the most interesting part, highlighting element of Eid.

However, these days food are no longer hand-made. Due to improve family economy, more dishes choice with affordable price and business, the kitchen are no longer functioning as it used to be before Eid. Furthermore, laziness is always haunting myself.

Family
I don’t recall how many year has passed since the last time we took our family photo. As I can remember, the last one is not the best photo we took, due to I foolishly looking away from camera, want to make an effect like ‘almost watching the camera, but not actually‘. It all my 4th brother fault, making it looks like an art/specialty. Actually the secret is looking at the flash lamp, not the camera nor looking damn away.

The reason is, we are no longer can celebrate Eid as a complete family, so we can’t take the family photo. Because now, some has married and their ‘turning system’ is not synchronized with each other. So every Eid someone must be missing. Well, i think the system is quite fine actually. It is better to have incomplete family members each Eid, than having a completely family member in one Eid, but none at all on the next Eid.

Children
Well, there are nothing much I can say about this. Everybody grows and matured. And for me, my duit raya resource is only from my parent and sometimes from my uncles and aunts. Well, the youngest son always be young.

Well, maybe for me the Eid Fitri is losing it light because I might misunderstood the true meaning of it. Also, because nowadays, Eid Fitri is celebrated in front of television. I just hope that those loving and cherish memory never lost from my mind, and I hope that everybody can always appreciated every moment they had during Eid…….
